Giovanni Truncellito was born in Rome. He graduated in architecture in 1993, and in the Eighties was a regular guest of Cleto Polcina's art gallery in Rome, where he met many important artists and intellectuals. He painted on commission for different clients for a long time, and, since 1994, he has been teaching architectonical composition at the school of Architecture in Rome's university La Sapienza. Truncellito is also a pianist: he has performed in theatres both in Italy and France, often with the Paris qui Chante Trio, dedicated to the performance of French songs of the XX century.

As an architect, Truncellito has worked redesigning private residences, designing for the theatre stage, has restored the Rossini theatre in Rome and the antichapel of Saint Caterina of Siena.

As a painter he presented his work in 1999 in the personal exhibition 'Il mito e il bel canto' at the Relais Ducale in Gubbio under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. He has also participated in exhibition in various Italian cities and abroad. In 2005 has presented an exhibition of his paintings dedicated to Maria Callas, 'Colori del mito': it was held in the foyer of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, at the start of the 125th opera season, and in part in the so called 'secret gallery' in the Hotel Quirinale. For this exhibit he has been awarded the Silver Plaque of the Italian President of the Republic.
