Event Background

The OLYMP'ARTS 2023 Opening Ceremony will take place at Zappeion Megaron in Athens, Greece, On October 5th, 2023, at 10 a.m. The choice of Zappeion Megaron for the Opening Ceremony holds profound significance. This architectural marvel stands as a tribute to the Greek philanthropist Evangelos Zappas, who dedicated himself to reviving Greece's Olympic movement and generously funded the construction of permanent Olympic venues. In honor of his monumental contributions, the Greek government named this magnificent building Zappeion Megaron, establishing it as a timeless exhibition and conference center.

OLYMP'ARTS is a prestigious event under the World Olymp'Arts Council (WOAC), held once every four years. This extraordinary gathering reinterprets and celebrates the ancient Greek art competitions, encompassing various art forms and focusing on themes closely related to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

World Olymp'Arts Council

World Olymp'Arts Council (WOAC) is an international, non-governmental organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and is the leading organization of Olymp'Arts.

It is constituted in the form of an association under the Swiss Civil Code (article 60) and is founded by Marc Verriere.

The inaugural assembly of OLYMP'ARTS was held in 1995 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. From July 10th to 11th, the Constitutional Congress of OLYMP'ARTS took place at the UNESCO headquarters. The founding chairman, Mr. Marc Verrière, received support from the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Paris 1994-Centennial Olympic Congress. Ministers, ambassadors, representatives from international organizations, and delegates from 65 countries and regions jointly signed the "Founding Charter."
